Our History
Suntide Commercial Realty, Inc. was founded in the early 1980s. The founders were commercial real estate investors who were dedicated to providing third-party services to a growing a portfolio of office, retail and industrial properties throughout the Twin Cities.
Barb Schuba joined Suntide in September 2000. She was hired as a part-time accounting assistant and quickly moved her way up to a full-time accountant, then added property manager to her skillset. Barb founded the property management division and fostered a growing relationship with vendors, employees and new clients, growing the third-party sector of the company to what it is today.
With a background in both accounting and property management, Barb became instrumental in Suntide’s operations and is now CFO and COO of the company.
In 2017, the founders were ready to retire. Barb teamed up with Max Currie, head of the Construction and Maintenance teams, and the duo bought the company.
Max’s technical background drove him to pursue energy efficiency upgrades for the company’s managed properties. Max hired, trained and developed what would become Suntide’s in-house construction team. The construction team was a combination of professional carpenters and tradesmen who were able to offer tenant improvement projects and repairs to Suntide’s clients.
The construction team grew to become an important part of Suntide’s repertoire, tackling large scale projects like warehouse conversions, redevelopments, and renovations. Their services are utilized by clients all over the Twin Cities: investors, business owners and commercial real estate brokers.
Jeff Hart, CCIM brought an extensive background in commercial real estate, specializing in building owner and tenant representation and completing over 8 million square feet of transactions. He is well known as an industry expert and is often asked to be a panelist and contributor in the Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors.
Kevin Peck has over 15 years of experience in landlord and tenant representation as well as a unique skillset with lease and sales for nonprofits, schools and faith-based organizations. His expertise with non-traditional leases and sales makes him one of the most sought-after brokers for unique transactions and special-purpose properties throughout the Twin Cities.
Jeff and Kevin’s experience, professionalism and down-to-earth personalities provide a recipe for successful sales and leasing of commercial real estate throughout the Twin Cities area. Since each of our principals specialize in different aspects of the business, we are able to provide our clients with topnotch, hands-on service for all their real estate needs.
Today Suntide is one of the top 15 commercial property management firms in the Twin Cities. Suntide’s commitment to safety, innovation, and professionalism will continue to be an integral part of the company’s mission and stewardship to the Minnesota community.
Max Currie and Barb Schuba purchased Suntide Commercial Realty in 2016.
